Tests 36 minerals and toxic metals through a non-invasive hair sample. Your 2-page lab report illustrates high, low, and reference range values with easy-to-read bar graph illustrations. What are the steps to receiving my HTMA report?

1. Order: Once you place an order for Total Health Wellness Package, we will send you the hair analysis kit with complete instructions on how to take the hair sample. The kit is mailed in a (trackable) USPS Ground Advantage envelope. Note: The HTMA kit does not come in a box! The kit includes a lab submittal form with a small envelope for the hair sample, a cardboard scale to ensure enough hair is collected (about 1 heaping tablespoon), and complete instructions on how to take the hair sample.
   
   International clients (including Canada): In order to save time and frustration, you will receive instructions on sampling and submitting your hair sample via email. You will not receive a kit in the mail unless you contact us at 520-877-2637. There will be an extra charge for sending the kit by mail.
    
2. Hair Sample Collection: A "clean" hair tissue sample is critical to getting the most accurate results. Recent research indicates that coloring your hair will not affect your test results if the hair color is chemical based and contains zero minerals. Dyes like Grecian Formula and Henna contain lead acetate which will affect your lead levels and other heavy metals; therefore, making your test results invalid.
   
   The amount of sample needed is approximately a tablespoon of (dry) hair cut from the first 1.5 inches closest to the scalp from several locations on the head. The proximal portion is retained for your hair sample and the end pieces of hair strands discarded. We suggest you read through the instructions here in advance of purchasing.
   
   We strongly suggest you follow the Do's and Don'ts of Taking a Hair Sample by tapping/clicking here. Pay particular attention to the first point if you use a water softener. Your hair needs to be washed in non-softened water at least 3x before taking your hair sample; otherwise the test results will be skewed.

   If you haven't already read the Sample Collection Protocol by Trace Elements Lab, you can do so here.
   
   Please Note: It is imperative that you submit enough hair sample weight by using the cardboard scale provided and adding a little extra just to be sure. Trace Elements lab requires a minimum of 0.125 grams or 125 mg of hair to perform the analysis. Not submitting enough hair may delay getting your results by several weeks.
   
   
3. Mail your Sample & Form to TEI: You mail in your hair sample and submittal form directly to the lab Trace Elements Inc. (in the pre-addressed envelope). Please Note: You will not automatically receive notification that your sample has been received by the lab; therefore we recommend you mail your hair sample via USPS Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, or by courier so you can track it. Please remember to enclose your hair sample and submittal form together in the provided envelope, otherwise getting your results will be greatly delayed.
   
   Please Note: The submittal form you receive is signed by us Evenbetternow®. You do not need to get a doctor or healthcare practitioner to sign it.
   
   
4. Receiving Results: Once the lab has received your hair sample it will be queued up for preparation and analyzing. They typically complete testing within 7-12 calendar days of receipt of your hair sample. The lab emails us an electronic pdf copy of your report first, usually within 2 business days from the time your analysis is complete. Within another 2 business days, you'll be able to access your test through your client portal (which you'll receive instructions for setting up). A color printed paper copy can be mailed to you via USPS First Class Mail upon request by typing your request in the "Additional Information" window when checking out, or by contacting us. (Paper reports requested by international customers are mailed via First Class Mail International).
   
   
5. After you have filled out the required intake form and consent form, you will be able to schedule your consultation with one of our specialists through your Practice Better online portal.

Please Note: In most cases, the turnaround time to receive your hair analysis results from the time you place the order with us is 2-4 weeks (although that varies depending on how quickly you submit your hair sample).

What are the steps to receiving my GI-MAP Test Results?

1. Once you place an order for Total Health Wellness Package, we will submit your requisition for a test kit to be drop-shipped to you via DHA Laboratory, whom we have an account with. DHA Laboratory is a lab testing service company that offers the GI-MAP test by Mosaic Diagnostics Laboratory.
   
   
2. Your test kit will include instructions on how to take your stool sample and a pre-paid FedEx envelope for shipping your sample directly to Mosaic Diagnostics. The turnaround time to get test results is about 2 weeks from the time the lab receives your sample.
   
   
3. Once your results are available to us through our account portal with DHA Laboratory, you'll be able to access your test results through your own Practice Better client portal (which you'll receive instructions for setting up). You'll also receive an intake form and consent form so that our health specialists can begin working on your Personalized Written Interpretation and Protocol Report (for both the HTMA and GI-MAP test). The intake form will provide the information needed to personalize your report and better serve you.

Ordering for Someone Else? If you are ordering Total Health Wellness Package for anyone other than yourself, including in your own family members, it is very important that you include their name, address and phone number in the "Additional Information" section of the shopping cart, so that we can match your order to their name and ship the report directly to them or to you if it is a family member.

Alert To New York State Visitors: Due to current New York State regulations (NY Public Health Law Section 574), we are unable to process samples collected from residents of New York at this time. Therefore, we regret we cannot accept orders with a NY State billing or shipping address. Also, if you ordered a hair analysis from another state and you're visiting in New York, do not mail or postmark your hair sample from the state of New York as it will be rejected by Trace Elements lab, and you will not be refunded.

A Message for Pregnant & Nursing Mothers:

Pregnancy is a huge undertaking for the body and mineral balancing is incredibly supportive to both you and your baby.  Mineral balancing while pregnant is important to support blood volume increasing. Up to 10% of a mother’s stored minerals are lost during pregnancy and more if the baby is breastfed. Working with minerals is a great way to nourish you both.

Although hair analysis is a valuable tool for assessing your mineral, nutritional, and toxicity statuses, the approach to addressing your mineral test results during pregnancy and nursing is much different. It is important to understand this because even if imbalances are found we often cannot fully address them while pregnant or nursing. The focus is put more on supporting the body rather than addressing toxicities during this time. It’s not ideal to push detoxification because these toxicities can be passed in utero and through breast milk.

It is beneficial to test while pregnant or nursing but to significantly address toxicities, that is something to be handled after pregnancy and when nursing has ceased.
