Sodium Bentonite Clay baths are one of the most effective and safe ways to decrease the cumulative toxic load of heavy metals, chemicals, food additives, pesticides, herbicides, plastics, viruses, bacteria, etc on the body. There are over 250 types of bentonite clays, each with slightly different properties.
Bentonite clays have two important properties: Absorption and adsorption. Depending on which type of bentonite clay is used will determine which property (absorption or adsorption) is most prevalent, and what type of usage (eating, clay packs, bathing, etc) is suggested. Detox clay baths are one of the most effective functions of bentonite clay.
Absorption simply means that, as the bentonite clay creates a negative ionic charge, it attracts positive ions from contaminants that get pulled into spaces within the clay molecule – like a dry
sponge absorbs water.
Adsorption means that this strong negative charge pulls positively-charged toxins through the open pores of the skin and these ions cling to the outside of the
molecule. In either case, positively-charged toxins (most toxins carry a positive charge) are attracted and pulled out of the open pores of the skin (warm/hot bath water opens the pores) into the bathwater itself.
We worked with a research developer from a major colloid company and we asked him to help us find a bentonite clay that would meet the following criteria: Pharmaceutical grade, containing no microbes, bacteria, yeast or mold, easy to use (mixes easily into water and safely flushes down the drain), and has the highest properties of both absorption and adsorption when mixed in water.
After testing many clays, he finally selected one that met all our requirements. This sodium bentonite clay had the highest cation exchange capacity (pulling power) of any clay it was tested against. We packaged this bentonite clay bath into two sizes. The 2 ½ lb size we called Kids Clear™ Bentonite Clay Baths and the 5 lb size we called EBN® Detoxifying Clay Baths.
Dr. Miriam Jang, M.D., author of Breakthroughs in Autism - a synopsis of the DAN protocol, says: “I have put a huge number of patients on clay baths and the levels of heavy metals – mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminum, and cadmium have come down dramatically... I have been monitoring the levels of metals using all three methods (transdermal DMPS, oral DMSA and clay baths) and the clay baths are way faster in the removal of metals…One particular patient had very high levels of mercury and levels of lead that were off the charts. In 3 months of twice weekly clay baths, the lead came down dramatically and the mercury disappeared. The muscle weakness associated with high lead levels improved dramatically. Interestingly enough, another 5 months of these clay baths showed even lower levels of lead but the mercury reappeared. This supports the theory that mercury is sequestered in different areas of our body and it takes time to get it all out.”
Both Kids Clear™ and EBN® Bentonite Clay Baths are hypoallergenic with no added excipients or other ingredients. We believe them to be the easiest, most effective detox clay baths on the market today. |
